What is AEGEE?

AEGEE is an abbreviation for "Association des Etats Généraux des Etudiants de l'Europe", which means “European Students' Forum”.

AEGEE was founded by a group of students in Paris in April of 1985, as an international youth organization that is economically and politically independent. Today, AEGEE operates in more than 286 cities throughout Europe, with more than 20000 members. There are currently 16 antennae (locals) in Turkey.

AEGEE is one of the 25 organizations that were chosen for 6 years of collaborative work by *European Council* in March 1994 out of 450 NGOs, and is also a member of European Youth Forum and Mediterranean Youth Forum.

AEGEE, being an interdisciplinary organization, consists of members from various branches. Among the activities that AEGEE organizes are conferences on subjects that will shape the future, training programmes, “Summer Universities”, and many others on European scale.
